How do I become an NDT Technician?
In a global economy, NDT as a whole requires personnel qualified and certified to carry out the testing. It is absolutely imperative that the testing is administered by an independent party that is unbiased in its approach to certification. Of the many different certification schemes used around the world, we use ASNT . Following this, there are third party exams to be challenged in order to gain certification. When completed, the certifications belong to the technician.
Personnel are classified as Level I, Level II and Level III according to the following definitions.
Personnel who properly perform calibrations and specific techniques for processing pieces according to written instructions. Level I personnel carry out inspections under the supervision and instructions of a Level II or Level III technician.
Personnel are qualified to carry out inspections and interpret results in accordance with the established specifications. They are also responsible for the method or technique used as well as the interpretation.
Fully qualified personnel who are able to assume full responsibility of a test facility and staff.
Our Non-Destructive Testing Centre offers training in six different NDT methods: Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Radiography, Ultrasonics, Eddy Current and Phased Array. Courses have been designed to instill the basic knowledge and skills of each method through comprehensive theory and lab practice in the Center's world class classroom and lab facilities.
